Nick Saban’s brainwashing is still working well
You want to know why Nick Saban is arguably the great college football coach of all-time?
It’s because he always seems to know how to brainwash and program his players to think of themselves as underdogs.
This is the same Alabama team that is ranked No. 1 and is the reigning national champion. Monday’s game will be against UGA, a team that Crimson Tide blew out only a few weeks ago in the SEC Championship. Saban is 4-0 against Kirby Smart.
Yet here we are. Again.
Before Alabama’s easy semifinals win over Cincinnati, linebacker Will Anderson famously claimed that the Crimson Tide felt like “underdogs " – despite the fact that they were favored by two touchdowns.
Anderson, who may be college football’s best defender not named Jordan Davis or Nakobe Dean, was back at it again on Saturday:
“Us being underdogs, us not being respected ... That just fuels everybody up.”
Against UGA, Alabama is the underdog, according to oddsmakers, as the Bulldogs are listed as a favorite by 2.5 or 3 points. There something strange going on there, as up to 90% of the bettors are riding with the Crimson Tide, per ESPN.
