BUFORD, Ga. — Satellite camps, as most are finding out, are not the place to see the high-level prospects work out.

The activity is a place for media to watch college coaches give back to the game and high school football coaching in general. They teach. They share techniques and their presence helps others get noticed by mid-level programs outside the Power 5 perimeter. The other side effect is no big-time college football coach is getting a lot of June swings in on the golf course.

But it is a place to talk football. That allowed the chance for DawgNation to get an update on how well a certain freshman running back is fitting in at UGA.

It seems that four-star running back Elijah Holyfield has already produced his first “did you hear about” story? This comes to DawgNation from Woodward Academy assistant coach Ryan Davis. It took place after a workout. What transpired was a push-up challenge. It was believed to be just among the newcomers.

Let’s just say that Holyfield now holds the title belt in the push-up department.

Holyfield repped out 92 push-ups in about a minute. Maybe it was two minutes. Who cares? If it was 92 push-ups in two minutes, then that still sounds like somebody who deserves their own action figure.

Davis also said Holyfield actually did 100 during the span, but that eight additional reps did not count because he might have short-armed them. Or better yet maybe the accountant-slash-coach who had to tally up all those reps might have blinked. That’s some serious stuff.

That’s a pretty stout feat.

“Kirby told me that Elijah has impressed everyone already,” Davis said. “They have been pleased by what they have seen so far.”
