ATHENS — DeVondre Seymour didn’t give up football after all. He just gave up Georgia.

Seymour, who had waited two years to qualify to play at Georgia, announced through the school in June that he had given up football, just days after enrolling. But two months later he has emerged at another program.

Southern Illinois now lists Seymour on its roster, assigned jersey No. 70. And Seymour posted a picture of himself in a Salukis jersey on his Instagram account.

He will have three years of eligibility at Southern Illinois, an FCS program and member of the Missouri Valley Conference.

Seymour is the adopted son of former Georgia and NFL defensive end Richard Seymour.
