ATHENS — Here are quotes from Georgia Tech’s 28-27 victory over Georgia on Saturday:

Georgia coach Kirby Smart: “I hate it for our seniors. They are what this game is all about. I hate that we can’t send them out on top at home. … The best thing we can do for our seniors is get better and keep improving the program. Hopefully we can finish with a win in the bowl and send them out the right way.”

Georgia tight end Jeb Blazevich: “You want to send out the seniors the right way. It just sucks.”

Georgia receiver Isaiah McKenzie: “They came out and played good and they made some plays on us and we didn’t make plays on them. That was the big deal. We came out and played the best we can and we fell short.”

Georgia defensive back Dominick Sanders: “This is the game you want to remember and the fact that they made more plays than us and the results didn’t come out to (for) us, it hurts.”

Georgia running back Sony Michel: “Any time you go three and out or have any turnovers, the momentum is always going to shift.”

Smart: “To the fans, I’m just as sick as you are, I’m just as upset as you are and I’m just as disappointed as you are. We’ve got to do a better job. We recognize that, and we will.”

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson: “We just keep playing. This team doesn’t get a whole lot of respect, nor does the program. So you just keep playing. I think they’ve done a really good job of doing that. We don’t listen to anybody. We just play.”

Georgia Tech linebacker P.J. Davis: “Well, they got two great backs, Sony Michel and Nick Chubb, and we just keep fighting. It wasn’t always pretty at times, but we just kept fighting.”

Johnson: “We didn’t play perfect all day, but we made plays. It was kind of a microcosm of our season. We can’t get off the field, but in the second half, we don’t give up a lot of points. When we had to, on defense, we held them to a couple of field goals. That was the difference in the game.”
