Georgia already got one recruit to start off 2017. And now it’s adding a second one on the first day of the year.
Four-star athlete Tray Bishop has committed to Georgia. Bishop was a one-time Auburn commit before he backed off his pledge.
Earlier in the day, Georgia secured a commitment from 4-star safety DeAngelo Gibbs. Bishop projects as a safety at the next level.
Bishop, from Dawson, Ga., is the No. 149-ranked player in the country and gives Georgia 22 commitments for its 2017 recruiting class, ranked No. 3 nationally. Only Alabama has a higher class among SEC teams.
Georgia now has commitments from 13 of the top 20 recruits in the state of Georgia from the 2017 class. The Bulldogs are still in pursuit of DT Aubrey Solomon and DE Markaviest Bryant, the only two players in the top 20 who have not committed.
Georgia’s top rated commit is also a safety, as 5-star Richard LeCounte is the No. 2-ranked player at the position for the Class of 2017. Bishop is participating in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, as are a number of other Georgia commits such as LeCounte, quarterback Jake Fromm and wide receiver Jeremiah Holloman.
