William Poole didn’t get a chance to talk to UGA coaches after the Bulldogs beat the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday because he wanted to beat the traffic.

But that’s OK though because Poole, a 2017 5-star cornerback according to Rivals.com, has visited UGA multiple times, but Saturday’s visit may have been the best one to date.

“What made my visit most amazing was the fans,” Poole told the AJC’s DawgNation.com “I have never seen anything like it before. Dawg Nation was in full effect. All red, the chants — the whole stadium was packed. The fans, to me, played a big role in UGA’s victory. Other than that, like you mentioned in our previous interview, all of the freshmen that were playing, did a pretty good job at their specific positions. That caught my attention.”

In a previous interview with DawgNation.com, Poole noted that UGA was his “most preferred” school, though he says no school currently leads for him.

What about after Saturday’s UGA visit? “I’d just say they will be a team to beat, but not the team to beat,” Poole said. “I’ve seen about enough from UGA. Now I’ll focus on checking out more of the out-of-state schools I’m interested in.”

So who would be the team to beat if it’s not UGA?

“In due time, I’d be able to let you know,” he said. “As of now, there isn’t an answer to that question.”

UGA fans should not worry about that answer from Poole. He just wants to take his time in the process and make sure he evaluates all of his options.

He’ll continue that evaluation process when he takes unofficial visits to UGA for the Alabama game, and Alabama for the LSU game.

Poole plans on releasing a top 10 on New Year’s Day, then a top five after the summer. He will commit at some point in 2016.

Poole is rated as the state’s No. 15 overall prospect for 2017.
