5-star standout from Savannah returns to UGA for the Georgia Southern game
The Georgia Southern game has turned out to be a destination for elite prospects this week. The combination of a rare late kickoff and the last home game of 2015 has boosted the star appeal of a clash with the Eagles. Isaac Nauta, the nation’s No. 1 tight end, is in the stands. Kyle Davis, another 5-star target, has also returned to Sanford Stadium. Mecole Hardman, Jr., another mega 5-star UGA priority, made it, too.
Demetris Robertson, a newly-minted 5-star athlete from Savannah, is also at UGA. He’s rated as the nation’s No. 2 athlete for 2016 and projects as an impact receiver at the college level.

This had been a previously planned weekend for an official visit to Ohio State, but Robertson confirmed he will be at UGA for an unofficial visit. It is important to note this isn’t the family trip with his mother and sister. That one will be key in his ultimate decision to sign with UGA, Alabama, Stanford or somewhere else.
Where does he stand with UGA? He told DawgNation UGA was still “pretty high up there” and there’s a possible development with his recruiting to pay attention to. He had stated in the past UGA would not get an official visit because he’s been to the campus so many times, but that may no longer be the case.
Robertson said he is now considering UGA for one of his final officials.
“I think Alabama and LSU are also a consideration out of SEC schools to take my official,” he told DawgNation.
Stanford has long been considered his leader and he’s already taken official visits to Cal and Notre Dame. Robertson has also been planning an official visit to Georgia Tech out of respect for that program being his first offer.
UGA had a de-commitment at receiver this week and also missed out on a receiver who was expected to sign with UGA. That means a prospect like Robertson becomes even more important to this year’s signing class. McEachern senior Tyler Simmons will also be at UGA today. He’s always been a target at receiver for UGA, but he becomes even more important now given last week’s events.
Lanier defensive tackle Derrick Brown, another huge 5-star need, is also back for his sixth visit of the season. That makes a quintet of 5-stars from the Class of 2016 that made it to UGA for the Georgia Southern game.
