Remember all the chatter last week about how UGA appeared to be out of contention for the No. 1 prospect out of Georgia?

Well, the Bulldogs got some big news on Tuesday night — the eve of National Signing Day.

The mother of 5-star Derrick Brown confirmed to SEC Country’s Chuck Kingsbury that the Bulldogs are probably one of the three top contenders.

“There are some schools at the top,” Martha Brown told Kingsbury. “The kid is going to have some favorites. I can say his depth chart probably at the top would be Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.”

That’s a big turn of events from only last week when it appeared that the Bulldogs were on the outside looking in … behind heavy frontrunner Auburn, along with Tennessee and Alabama.
