ATLANTA — Brandon Jones might be a name for Georgia fans to keep a tab on.

The 3-star defensive end out of Dacula High School is headed to Georgia Military College for now, but once he’s done there, Georgia is among his top schools. At 6-foot-5, 278, Jones has the size to play anywhere on the defensive line and he’s already drawing interest from Kirby Smart.

“I’ve been talking to Kirby a little bit,” Jones said. “He says he’s very interested in me. I mean, I’ve been talking to him a lot, actually. I worked out for him a little bit. They just told me they’re interested in me when I leave.”

Jones is on track to be at Georgia Military College for a year and a half, graduating in December 2019. That would put him on pace to be an early enrollee for the 2019 class with two years of eligibility.

This recruiting cycle, he drew interest from Tennessee, Louisville and a little from Georgia, but academic issues meant that he was always on track to go the junior college track. He’s so interested in Georgia that his choice of Georgia Military College was intentionally designed to keep him close to Smart and the Bulldogs.

A lot can change in two years, though, but it looks like Georgia already has the inside track.

“I’m going to weigh my options when I leave,” Jones said. “Right now, this is what I have to do so I’m going to get it done and see where I want to go after this.”
