Derrick Brown, the state’s top prospect, has made his decision.

Was it UGA? Was it Auburn? Was it Tennessee or Alabama or Mississippi State?

The 6-foot-4, 311-pounder chose Auburn on Wednesday afternoon at his National Signing Day ceremony. Brown is rated as the state’s No. 1 prospect and the No. 3 defensive tackle in the nation for 2016. He adds to an already impressive cast of defensive line recruits at Auburn for the Class fo 2016.

It’s a tough loss for UGA. Brown is one of those players who can easily be projected to the NFL in three years. The Lanier High School standout has that kind of special ability.

The U.S. Army All-American was trending toward Auburn earlier in the week and it appears that those early forecasts were on the mark.
