But this one had been over for awhile. Becton said he just knew from the moment he tried on that No. 6 jersey when he was at G-Day. There was just something different about the program, he said.
“I tell you I think that I look awesome in red and black,” Becton told DawgNation on Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder rates as the nation’s No. 48 weak-side defensive end for 2018. He’d been recruited from the fertile Tidewater region by assistant Shane Beamer, among others.
“I really think coach Beamer did a heck of a job recruiting me,” he said. had felt the need to commit to UGA ever since his trip to G-Day. He spoke with Beamer and head coach Shane Beamer on Wednesday night and felt the need to wrap it up.

“It is a mixture of relief and excitement here,” he said. “But it is more just excitement to be able to let the world know that I am going to play there for Georgia.”
Look for him to take another trip to UGA soon. He’ll be back down to Athens with his mother for another summer visit. She hasn’t made the trip down to see Georgia yet.
He said he hopes to wear No. 6 for the Bulldogs. That’s his high school number. Look for him also to explore the chance to enroll early in January of 2018. That sounded like something he wanted to explore.
Becton had offers from North Carolina State, Maryland, Syracuse, West Virginia and Virginia Tech. He joins 4-star CB Chris Smith II and 2-star punter Jake Camarda in the UGA class.

His latest offer was from West Virginia. Becton stated on his Twitter profile that the Mountaineers were his 15th offer.
He’s an athlete as the first play on his highlight tape shows him catching a pass and then crunching a cornerback. That’s why some of his recruiting profiles online also list him as a tight end.

He picked up his offer from UGA back in November of 2016. The Bulldogs were his fourth offer at that time.
