BREAKING: UGA gains commitment from another RB
UGA coaches have a gigantic reason to be thankful for Thanksgiving.
Devwah Whaley, a 4-star running back from Beaumont, Texas, announced on Twitter that he has committed to UGA.
The 6-foot, 209-pounder becomes the second running back commit in this year’s recruiting class, joining 4-star Elijah Holyfield. Now with the two running backs on board, UGA can continue its recent strategy of signing two elite running backs.
Whaley rated his UGA visit a perfect “10” after the South Carolina game earlier this year. Around that same time, rumors started floating around that he had silently committed to UGA. That came about after SEC Network analyst Andre Ware announced that Mark Richt told him that the Bulldogs had two elite running backs coming in next season.
During a recent interview with DawgNation, Whaley disputed multiple reports that stated Arkansas was his leader. The running back committed to UGA over the Razorbacks, Texas and Texas A&M.
The commitment comes as a gigantic surprise. Whaley was expected to announce his commitment Jan. 2 at the Under Armour All-American game.
Whaley is rated as the nation’s No. 4 running back, which is one slot higher than Holyfield.
