David Marshall did just that on National Signing Day. The 6-foot-3, 272-pounder From Upson-Lee High School decided to bank on some strong late interest from UGA, since Kirby Smart’s arrival, when making the decision where he wanted to play college football.
Marshall — who visited Athens on the last two weekends of January — saw what he needed to choose UGA over his commitment to Auburn. The 3-star defensive end had been a likely flip candidate over the last 10 days.
The 3-star prospect took his official visit on Jan. 22 with his family and then returned back to campus for an unofficial visit last weekend. Marshall is rated as the nation’s No. 21 defensive end prospect for the Class of 2016. Unless otherwise indicated, player rankings and ratings are from the 247Sports Composite.
