Cavin Ridley, a 4-star receiver from Florida with a famous older brother, is in the UGA student directory.

He’s there by the name Riley Ridley. That’s his preference and a way for him to make his own mark aside from Alabama star freshman receiver Calvin Ridley.

UPDATE: Ridley committed to UGA on Thursday

There’s a reason why Riley Ridley’s name currently appears in the UGA student directory. It is usually triggered by a student either being admitted or signing early enrollment papers with the university. But Ridley told DawgNation.com this afternoon that he’s not aware that he had signed any early enrollment papers with UGA at this time.

But Ridley told DawgNation.com this afternoon he’s not aware he had signed any early enrollment papers with UGA at this time. The fact that a student has been admitted for the upcoming term doesn’t exactly mean they will enroll. That’s contingent on they showing up for the first day of the semester.

“I am just going through the process right now,” said Ridley, who rates as the No. 32 receiver in the nation by 247’s composite ranking. “My coaches back home are doing all this stuff for me.”

Here’s the really intriguing stuff: Ridley is on campus at UGA right now. He said he arrived at about 2 p.m. and was expecting to spend the night. He’s not certain at this time if he will also visit other schools.

“You can just say that I am at UGA,” Ridley said. “I am here. I just got here.”

Ridley’s recruiting process has been very interesting of late. He committed to South Carolina last week at the Under Armour All-American game and then re-opened his recruiting two days later. He said Georgia, Alabama, Florida and South Carolina were the final schools he would be considering.

He wasn’t able to answer the question about whether or not he liked what he has seen so far at UGA.

“I’m in my room,” Ridley said. “I will be able to answer that question later on when I look around and see the campus and the facilities and all that stuff.”

Ridley said he could make his decision “today or by tomorrow” if he likes what he sees at UGA.

“If this is my choice, then I will just stay here,” he said.

He said he also visited the campus during the summer and said he’s taken at least three total trips to UGA in the past.

“I just like Georgia,” he said, who added he has a good relationship with new receivers coach James Coley.

But Ridley also said he’d likely still be visiting UGA this week even if Coley had not been added to Kirby Smart’s new UGA staff.

“Kirby coming to Georgia is one of the bigger reasons why I am now interested in Georgia,” he said.

When he arrives at a decision, he said he would just tweet out that he had made his commitment. He said he was still also still considering playing with his brother at Alabama.

“It really wouldn’t matter at this time,” Ridley said. “I am just really ready to just get into a school and start things up.”
