Blake Vinson, a 3-star offensive tackle from Florida, has yet to name any leaders. But UGA appears to be in good position when he does.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder currently holds 20 offers. Vinson says he’s been high on UGA from the get-go for multiple reasons.
“I really like (UGA offensive line coach Rob Sale),” Vinson told the AJC. “I really like (Mark Richt), too. I think they’re both really good guys. I’ve always liked Georgia since the beginning. I like what the program stands for and how they run their team. The style of offense, too.”
Vinson has been a regular visitor at UGA this past year. He attended a few games last season and most recently attended the Bulldogs’ “Dawg Night” prospect camp in July, when he had the opportunity to see Sale up close for the first time.
“It was the first time I’ve ever seen (Sale) coach,” Vinson said. “I really liked that. His coaching style, he gets after it. He’s real fired up.”
In his conversations with UGA’s coaching staff, Vinson says they envision using him possibly at center or right tackle, though he’s comfortable anywhere on the line.
The 2017 lineman will be traveling a lot this fall. As it stands, Vinson plans to attend games at Tennessee, UGA and Florida.
Vinson says he will release a list of finalists at the end of his junior year. According to 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predictions, he is projected to commit to UGA (100 percent).
