Georgia recruiting took a hit Monday as the Bulldogs lost a major commitment for the class of 2017.

Toneil Carter, 4-star running back from Langham Creek (Texas) in Houston, announced on Twitter that he was de-committing from the Bulldogs. He implied it was due in part to running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel staying for their senior season. Carter said the situation was “totally out of my control.”

With Chubb and Michel staying for another year, Carter implied there would not be a spot on the roster for him to enroll early. He had been planning to enroll in January.

The de-commitment leaves 4-star recruit D’Andre Swift as the Bulldogs’ only commit at running back.

Carter is the No. 7 RB in the country for the class of 2017 and the nation’s No. 137 prospect overall. He holds offers from LSU, Texas and Texas A&M among others
