UGA’s 2016 commitments
WR Darion Anderson, Houston County — Anderson had his first game back on Thursday night in a runaway 41-13 win against Veterans. He played sparingly in the game and almost all of his reps were at cornerback as he works his way back from a late May knee injury.
OL Chris Barnes, Lee County — Barnes and the Trojans recorded a big 42-0 victory against Crisp County.
DT Tyler Clark, Americus-Sumter — Clark and his teammates didn’t fare too well in a 42-21 loss to Macon County.
DB Chad Clay, Peachtree Ridge — The 3-star DB and his Lions will face Archer at 7 p.m. on Saturday night on ESPNU.
OL/DL Ben Cleveland, Stephens County — “Big Ben” and his Indians likely had fun in a rousing 34-7 victory against Franklin County.
WR Davion Curtis. Temple (Tx.) — Curtis was credited with at least one long catch in a 23-20 victory against Round Rock on Friday night.
WR Randrecous Davis, Mays — Davis and his teammates traveled to Augusta on Saturday to face Glenn Hills.
OL Aaron Dowdell, Creekside — Dowdell and his teammates had a big offensive showing in a 30-7 victory against Langston Hughes. He had at least three pancake blocks last night.
QB Jacob Eason, Lake Stevens (Wash.) — The 5-star prospect had a jamboree game on Friday night against Lynden in Washington.
LB Jaleel Laguins, Oconee County — The 4-star linebacker was a part of an easy 49-6 win against Oglethorpe County on Friday night.
DE Chauncey Manac, Clinch County — Clinch County earned a 33-20 victory on Friday night against Brooks County. Manac came away from that contest with three sacks.
DB Tyrique McGhee, Peach County — McGhee lines up at quarterback and had a strong game in a 44-34 loss to Warner Robins. He ran for 74 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown and completed 6 of his 11 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns. He added 95 yards in kickoff returns.
DT Julian Rochester, McEachern – Big Julian and his Indians were off this week but are prepping for a big test next with against Buford.
TE Garrett Walston, New Hanover (N.C) — Walston had seven catches for 105 yards in a 48-21 win against Socastee. He just missed a touchdown catch as he was tackled at the Socastee 1. New Hanover is now 2-0 for the year.
TE/WR Charlie Woerner, Rabun County — Woerner caught two touchdowns in a 41-14 win against Habersham Central. He finished with three catches for 91 yards, with a long of 38 yards. He also had eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for losses in the victory.
ATH Malek Young, Coconut Creek (Fla.) — Young was in action Saturday morning amid a Georgia versus Florida Showdown in Clarkston. He scored the first three touchdowns for his team of a 41-21 win against Marist at James R. Hallford Stadium.
UGA’s uncommitted major 2016 targets
DT Derrick Brown, Lanier — Brown was dominant in last week’s win against Lambert, but his Longhorns were idle this week.
DE Brian Burns, American Heritage (Fla.) — The 4-star DE and his Patriots will face Stephenson at 8 p.m. on Saturday night.
ATH Marquez Callaway, Warner Robins — Callaway had a big night in a 44-34 win against Peach County. He had four receptions for 73 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown. He also contributed a 21-yard punt return and a 25-yard kickoff return.
WR Kyle Davis, Archer — The 5-star WR and his Tigers will face Peachtree Ridge at 7 p.m. on Saturday night on ESPNU.
ATH Mecole Hardman, Elbert County — The 5-star athlete dazzled at quarterback in a runaway 40-14 win against Cedar Shoals. The Athens Banner-Herald reports he accounted for 22 points in throwing for two touchdowns, adding a scoring run plus a 2-point conversion last night. He had 16 carries for 112 yards on the ground and completed 7 of his 15 attempts for another 111 yards and one interception. He’ll be at receiver or cornerback in college.
RB Elijah Holyfield, Woodward Academy: Holyfield sat out an easy 34-7 win against Decatur. He was held out as a precaution.
DT Antwuan Jackson, Cedar Grove — Jackson and his Cedar Grove teammates are in action at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon against Florida power Hallandale.
WR Tre Nixon, Viera (Fla.) — Nixon set the tone for his team’s 34-0 win against Rutledge by returning the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Look below at the end of the recap for a video highlight of that big play.
OL E.J. Price, Archer — The 4-star OL and his Tigers will face Peachtree Ridge at 7 p.m. on Saturday night on ESPNU.
ATH Demetris Robertson, Savannah Christian — He ran for more than 100 yards in a 16-8 setback to McIntosh County Academy on Friday. Robertson excelled on offense and defense, but his 51-yard touchdown run to open the scoring was his major highlight. His highlight reel from that also included an interception and a touchdown-saving tackle that saw him chase the ballcarrier down on a breakaway run.
DB Nigel Warrior, Peachtree Ridge — The 4-star S and his Lions will face Archer at 7 p.m. on Saturday night on ESPNU.
RB Devwah Whaley, Beaumont Central (Tx.) — According to the Beaumont Enterprise, Whaley was held to 45 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown in a 27-24 loss to West Brook.
WR Binjimen Victor, Coconut Creek (Fla.) — Victor is in action on Saturday morning with a Georgia versus Florida Showdown in Clarkston. Coconut Creek will take on Marist at approximately 11 a.m. at Hallford Stadium.
UGA’s 2017 commitments
QB Bailey Hockman, McEachern — Hockman and his Indians were off this week but are prepping for a big test next against Buford.
ATH Deejay Dallas, Glynn Academy — Dallas was a big part of an emotional victory against city rival Brunswick. According to the Brunswick News, he had a game-sealing 77-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 28-0 win.
WR Devonta Smith, Amite (La.) — Smith missed most of last season with an injury but had a strong performance in a 14-14 jamboree tie on Thursday evening against West St. John. NOLA.com has the details, plus a video interview and these highlights below.
