Matt Stafford is one of the greatest quarterbacks in UGA history, so it’s only fitting that the Bulldogs’ quarterback of the future, Jacob Eason, models his game after Stafford.

Eason, the 5-star UGA quarterback commit from Lake Stevens, Wash., told the AJC’s DawgNation.com why he thinks his game resembles Stafford’s.

“I like to think that I’m more of a (Matt) Stafford type of quarterback just because he’s a playmaker,” Eason said. “I also like to watch (New England Patriots QB Tom) Brady play, but Brady is a little less mobile than most guys, but he still gets the job done. I’m calling it that they are going to win the Super Bowl again. But I would say out of (Denver Broncos QB Peyton) Manning, Brady and Stafford, I most resemble Stafford. He is more mobile and takes shots down the field.”

Stafford finished his UGA career with 7,731 passing yards and 51 touchdowns through the air, both good for fourth all-time in the UGA record books. He was chosen No. 1 overall in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

Eason will enroll at UGA in January and is expected to compete for the starting quarterback job as soon as he gets to campus, just like what Stafford did back in 2006.
