Jadon Haselwood, the No. 1 wide receiver in the country and No. 1 player in the state of Georgia for the 2019 recruiting cycle, has announced his college decision.

And despite being a one-time commit to Georgia, Haselwood will not be playing with the Bulldogs, as he picked the Oklahoma Sooners.

The talented wide receiver from Cedar Grove High School in Atlanta announced his decision during the fourth quarter of the All-American Bowl. Haselwood is an early enrollee, meaning he will start classes with the Sooners this month.

Haselwood also had a very impressive touchdown catch in the All-American Bowl.

Haselwood originally committed to Georgia in his sophomore year of high school. But he backed off his pledge in October, and re-opened his recruitment. Haselwood also has a close relationship with Justin Fields, who announced that he was transferring from Georgia to Ohio State on Friday.

Missing out on Haselwood stings even more given the news that Riley Ridley and Mecole Hardman will forgo their final year of eligibility and enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Georgia did sign two wide receivers in the early signing period in 5-star Dominick Blaylock and 4-star Makiya Tongue. Georgia will also bring back Jeremiah Holloman, Tyler Simmons. Demetris Robertson will also likely take on a bigger role next season. The Bulldogs will see four of their five starting offensive linemen return, along with running back D’Andre Swift and quarterback Jake Fromm.

The Bulldogs do still have the No. 2 overall recruiting class and did pick up a commitment from 4-star cornerback Tyrique Stevenson on Saturday. Stevenson is the No. 4 cornerback in the country and could very likely fill the shoes of the departing Deandre Baker.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart has still not yet landed the top player in the state of Georgia in any of his four recruiting classes. Last year, Trevor Lawrence, who was the No. 1 player in the country, picked Clemson. In 2017, quarterback Davis Mills signed with Stanford and in 2016, Derrick Brown signed with Auburn. Smart did land the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect via the 247Sports Composite rankings in Nolan Smith, who is from Savannah but played his high school football at IMG Academy in Florida.

Georgia also has a chance to still land some of the top unsigned wide receiver prospects in the country, such as Auburn commit George Pickens. National Signing Day is set for Feb. 6.
