Kirby Smart has already spoken to the most important recruit in the 2016 recruiting class at UGA. That’s 5-star quarterback Jacob Eason.

He shared his thoughts on Eason with beat reporters on Monday after his introductory press conference at UGA.

“He’s very talented,” Smart said. “He came to our camp this summer and I got to see him throw. What a great talent he is, great kid.”

Smart is allowed to make those comments about Eason because the prospect has already signed his financial aid papers with UGA.  He also confirmed what DawgNation first reported yesterday: He was on his way to see Eason immediately as soon as his media responsibilities were completed on Monday.

Smart told the beat guys after the press conference he was hopping a plane to visit Eason across the country in Washington but just didn’t know how.

“To be honest, I don’t know exactly how,” Smart said. “It’s been a whirlwind. But I’m going and I’m going fast.”

The new UGA head coach also said he knew Eason was an outstanding student and he also looked forward to meeting Eason and his family.
