Nation’s No. 1 athlete updated his Top 7 and revised his commitment date
Jacoby Stevens tweeted out over the weekend he had an announcement coming on Memorial Day.
The 6-foot-2, 196-pounder did not disappoint. The five-star recruit and nation’s No. 1 athlete for 2017 updated the Top 7 schools he had established back in April.
UGA, his stated leader all spring, made the cut. So did four other SEC schools plus Clemson and Florida State.
Stevens (Oakland High School / Murfreesboro, Tenn.) also revised his commitment date from the July 19 date he established recently. He had wanted to announce his decision that day on his birthday but now says that date is undetermined.
The projected safety on the college level is rated as the nation’s No. 25 overall player for 2017.
The list he shared was in no particular order. UGA and LSU are seen as the top contenders to land Stevens when he makes his decision. Stevens is a Louisiana native. He had previously committed to LSU before backing off that pledge.
