Nation’s No. 1 ILB sets up official visit to UGA
Alabama linebacker Ben Davis told the AJC’s SECcountry.com last week that he had four of his five official visits pegged and he was still thinking about UGA or USC for his fifth official. He’s decided to stay within the SEC.
Davis told DawgNation.com on Tuesday afternoon he will now take an official visit to UGA for the Missouri game on Oct. 17. His other official visits will be to Florida State, LSU, Alabama and Auburn.
What does Davis think about UGA? He shared a couple of key thoughts with SECcountry.com last week.
On UGA: “I talk to (Sam linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer). We talk almost every week. We’re really close with each other. He’s like a second father to me.”
Davis unofficially visited UGA a handful of times last year. He was impressed by the coaching staff and the program’s facilities at every turn.
“My first time there, I actually fell in love with it. Sherrer told me they’re supposed to be building an indoor facility pretty soon. It’s a nice campus, nice people. Coach (Mark) Richt, I got to meet him for the first time. He’s really cool, nice and down to Earth.”
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound linebacker is rated as the No. 16 overall player in the country and the No. 2 overall prospect in Alabama. Davis told SECCountry.com last week that he’ll announce his decision on National Signing Day.
