Nation’s No. 2 overall prospect Xavier Thomas will visit Georgia on Saturday
The Nicholls State game could always stand for at least a teaspoon of extra incentive.
Well, the FCS non-conference matchup now has it. Xavier Thomas, the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect for the Class of 2018, will be in Athens on Saturday for the game.
It will mark the first trip to Athens for the nearly 6-foot-3 and 249-pound weak-side defensive end. Thomas is expected to be a hard pull out of his native South Carolina. The Florence resident is expected to eventually choose between Clemson and South Carolina, but the Top 4 schools he named this summer also included Florida State and Ohio State.
Thomas was very impressive despite being a Class of 2018 prospect at Nike’s all-star “The Opening” showcase recruiting event. He clocked a 4.58 second laser time in the 40-yard dash and his time in the shuttle run topped not only that of Georgia 2017 LB commitment Jaden Hunter but also receiver pledge Trey Blount in this year’s class.
He told DawgNation that he was considering the trip yesterday but wasn’t able to schedule the visit because of that noon kickoff. It appears that any logistical issues presented by that early kick have now been worked out.
Has been confirmed I will be attending the Georgia game this Saturday. Will be my first time in Athens! #Bulldogs ?⚫️ @KirbySmartUGA
