Devwah Whaley told the AJC on Thursday he will be at UGA for an official visit on Sept. 19 for the South Carolina game.

Whaley said the timing makes sense for a long weekend as it is an off weekend for his high school team. It will allow him to take a long look at UGA.

Whaley has heard some encouraging things from UGA regardless of what happens with 4-star RB Elijah Holyfield. He told the AJC earlier this month that UGA running backs coach Bryan McClendon has told him they will still accept his commitment even if another RB had already committed to UGA.

Holyfield is set to commit on Sept. 4. UGA is seen as one of the favorites to add him to their 2016 signing class. Mark Richt has shown a pattern of trying to find two elite backs to stock the position every other year or so.

Holyfield and Whaley would fall in line with the pattern established by Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall and continued by Nick Chubb and Sony Michel.
