DeAngelo Gibbs has made maybe 30-40 visits to UGA in his lifetime.

The Grayson High senior safety started landing big-time scholarship offers in the summer between middle school and his first season of varsity football.

He’s decided that one more trip to Athens can only help shape his decision. DawgNation learned Thursday that Gibbs will take his official visit to UGA on Dec. 9 for a vital recruiting weekend.

The Under Armour All-American will take another official visit to Oklahoma this weekend. Gibbs has also taken one other official visit to Alabama this season.

Auburn will also be dropping in tonight for an in-home visit to meet with Gibbs and his family.

Gibbs is the highest-rated undecided prospect in the state of Georgia for the Class of 2017. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder is rated as the nation’s No. 3 safety this year. But he could also be a cornerback or a No. 1 receiver for a big-time SEC program, too.

The 4-star senior is that talented. His bloodlines include two uncles (Dale Carter and Jake Reed) that combined to play more than 25 seasons in the NFL.

The weekend of his UGA visit sure looks like the alpha dog weekend for the Class of 2017 in Athens up to this point. That’s the official visit window that juts up next to the NCAA-mandated dead period for recruiting visits on Dec. 11.

5-star UGA commit Richard LeCounte III will be there. So will standout 4-star QB Jake Fromm. DawgNation learned earlier this week that priority UGA receiver target Jeremiah Holloman will also be there for his last official.

Add Gibbs to the party, too.

He could be coming off an appearance in the Georgia High School Association Class 7A state championship game, too. Top-ranked Grayson High could very well be playing in the Georgia Dome that weekend.

The 4-star recruit will also graduate in December and enroll early at the college of his choice in January. The main contenders to sign Gibbs appear to be Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee at this time.

His senior film more than verifies his status as the nation’s No. 41 overall prospect for this signing cycle.

DawgNation kept Gibbs in its latest mock signing class for this year at UGA.
