Top junior is high on UGA, others
Who’s in the mix for Robert Beal, the 4-star defensive end from Norcross High School?
According to the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder, he’s high on UGA, Notre Dame and FSU, though he says he’s considering all programs.
Beal, who took unofficial visits to UGA and Notre Dame this summer, says he enjoyed his conversations with UGA head coach Mark Richt and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
“I like the coaching staff,” said Beal, who’s ranked as the No. 5 weakside defensive end in the class of 2017. “Mark Richt, he’s a great guy. And I like Jeremy Pruitt a lot, too.”
While he’s been impressed by Pruitt’s effect on UGA’s defense, Beal says he isn’t ready to proclaim any leaders. He’s considering all offers.
“I’m keeping my options right now,” Beal said. “I’m just looking at everyone.”
And that includes Notre Dame, a school he remains high on.
“I love their tradition,” Beal said. “And they win.”
Much like with the Bulldogs, Beal says he’s developed a good relationship with the Irish coaching staff. They envision using him at multiple spots, including defensive end and outside linebacker.
Beal told the AJC that he plans on taking an unofficial visit to Notre Dame this season when the team faces Clemson on Oct. 3, but he has yet to determine where else he’ll travel.
