UGA cornerback target Jared Mayden was targeted once in the two games prior to Thursday night’s tilt against Garland High School (Texas). Because of the lack of work, Mayden decided to offer an incentive to the opposing team.
Mayden, a 4-star Oregon cornerback commit from Sachse, Texas, who said UGA was his No. 2 school now, offered to give away cleats to any receiver who scored on him in the game. So did any Garland receiver threaten Mayden for the cleats?
“No one came close,” Mayden told the AJC’s DawgNation.com. “I was really just looking for a challenge.”
Now that his cleats went unclaimed, does next week’s opponent have the same offer on the table?
“I don’t know yet,” Mayden said. “It depends on if their wide receivers are worth it.”
Mayden told the Oregonian’s Andrew Nemec that he is “pretty solid” with his commitment right now. He may be one to keep an eye on moving forward.
