UGA commit speaks with more confidence about his relationship with Bulldogs
Chad Clay, who committed to UGA in May, didn’t mince his words when he suggested that playing in the Big 12 is the ultimate test for a defensive back a few weeks ago.
The 3-star cornerback from Peachtree Ridge even suggested Oklahoma was a possible landing spot barring any changes with UGA.
On Saturday, however, Clay spoke with a different tone.
“Right now, I’m committed to the University of Georgia,” Clay told the AJC. “My family, my coaches, they’re happy with my decision. I have a great relationship with the staff up there. I’m a Bulldog right now.”
The 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback told the AJC that he’s lined up official visits to Oklahoma and UGA this fall, but maintains that the possibility of seeing the field early with the Sooners has caught his attention.
“It’s the University of Oklahoma,” Clay said. “It’s a great tradition. An opportunity to play early really presents itself at Oklahoma.”
Clay, who’s reported 12 offers, tells the AJC that he continues to hear from Florida State as well.
