UGA releases hype video touting Kirby Smart’s homecoming
UGA released a hype video on Sunday evening touting new head coach Kirby Smart’s return home to UGA. Have you seen it yet? You should.
It is a classy look with several old school clips from Smart’s playing days patrolling the secondary as a UGA safety. He had several interceptions, including a big one against the Gators in Jacksonville, an acrobatic sideline tightrope and a pick in the end zone.
Smart even picked off future NFL No. 1 draft pick Tim Couch in one of the clips. The reel then mixes in the famous “Midnight Train to Georgia” song from Gladys Knight and also frames up the message with several modern clips of Athens and Sanford Stadium.
UGA’s official release on the Smart hire included his stats as a UGA player and his career wasn’t too shabby. He was a four-year letterman at defensive back and a first-team all-SEC pick as a senior. He finished his career with 13 interceptions, which was fourth in Georgia annals, and led the Bulldogs with six interceptions in 1997 and five in 1998. He was also a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Check it out. You will be glad you did.
