“This has to be one of the best days of my life,” Brookwood junior linebacker Leonard Warner said on Friday night. “Period.”

That’s how the 4-star linebacker felt after his team fell down 21-0 and found a way to claim a 33-28 victory. The game mirrored the season for Warner’s team. Brookwood started out 0-3 and has now won four games in a row. He scored a key touchdown on a 38-yard scoop-and-score fumble return that sparked the rally.

“It was a great night for Brookwood,” he said.

The nation’s No. 9 outside linebacker for 2017 just keeps growing. He’s still at the 6-foot-4 mark and has bulked up to 226 pounds.

“Trying to put on some muscle,” he said.

One important point to clarify is that when Warner set his Top 5 earlier this season, he listed Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke, Alabama and Auburn. But that needs an asterisk.

That was his Top 5 list of schools he had seen. He still doesn’t know what he will think of programs like Michigan, Notre Dame and Stanford. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has been recruiting him from his early days in Ann Arbor onward.

What’s the latest on the recruiting? He said that “Georgia is working really hard” and contacting him just about every day from every contact method imaginable.

What else did Warner say? He answered the following questions for the AJC’s DawgNation.com after the thrilling victory:

  • Which schools are recruiting him the hardest right now?
  • What is UGA’s current recruiting pitch?
  • How has he adjusted to playing middle linebacker for Brookwood?
  • When does he plan to make his college decision?
