UGA offers one of Alabama’s top commits
Xavier McKinney committed to Alabama in September, but that didn’t stop UGA from offering the talented defensive back a scholarship.
McKinney, a 4-star prospect from Roswell High School (Roswell, Ga.), announced that he had picked up an offer from the in-state Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is rated by the 247sports composite as the No. 13 safety in the nation for the 2017 class. Just how good of a ballplayer is McKinney?
“He is as instinctive and as natural a ballplayer as I have ever seen,” Roswell coach John Ford told the AJC’s DawgNation.com last month. “When I was at Harrison (High School), I was there when (future Auburn great) Darvin Adams was there on both sides of the ball. Darvin could kind of do it all. I hope Darvin doesn’t read this, but I think Xavier is already far better than he ever was on both sides of the ball.”
