ORLANDO, Fla. — Soon, 5-star quarterback Justin Fields will be fighting for playing time in Athens, Ga. But before that, he says it’s his eventual competition — freshman QB Jake Fromm — who will lead Georgia to a national championship.

“I think Jake’s going to have to do really well this game,” Fields said, “because Alabama’s physical, too. So hopefully Jake does well and we pull out the win.”

Fields — the nation’s top-ranked dual-threat quarterback — signed with Georgia during the early signing period in December. He’s predicting a Bulldogs’ win by a 28-24 margin over the Crimson Tide. But he’s going into this prediction a bit more cautiously than his prediction before the Rose Bowl.

“I was trying to hide from everybody,” Fields said, discussing when Georgia trailed 31-14 against Oklahoma. “I was telling everyone we were about to blow them out. Looks like I had too much confidence at first, but they pulled it out.”
