One of UGA’s top priorities at inside linebacker has set his decision date.

Jaleel Laguins, a 4-star linebacker from Oconee County High School, confirmed with the AJC that he will announce his commitment on Aug. 19.

The AJC  traveled to Oconee County on Monday to visit Laguins and he told us that UGA and Auburn are the two main schools fighting it out.

Also in the mix to land the 6-foot-2, 215-pounder are Florida, Tennessee and Nebraska.

He told the AJC why each school is his finalist:

On why Auburn is a finalist: “I love Auburn every time I go there. It’s not too far away from home. It’s like the perfect distance away. Coach (Gus) Malzahn makes me feel welcomed every time I visit there. I love (defensive coordinator Will) Muschamp’s defense. I see myself fitting in perfectly with his defense.

On why UGA is a finalist: “Coach (Mark) Richt makes me feel at home. I love (defensive coordinator Jeremy) Pruitt’s defense. Going to the Georgia games last year, I had a good chance to study his defense and I loved what I saw.

On why Tennessee is a finalist: “Rocky Top. I don’t know what it is, but I love the mountains up there. Being up there, it just feels nice. The fanbase is amazing.”

On why Florida is a finalist: “Every time I think about Florida, I get chills. I went to the LSU game last year and it was at night. That stadium atmosphere was incredible. I think coach (Jim) McElwain and his staff is going to make some noise in the SEC pretty soon.

On why Nebraska is a finalist: “Their fanbase is like no other. I remember I tweeted that I got offered by Nebraska and I picked up 100 followers within the hour — just straight Nebraska fans. I love Nebraska so much. It would be a beautiful place to be at.”
