Will UGA sign two quarterbacks in next year’s class?
Will UGA sign two quarterbacks in next year’s recruiting class?
That’s exactly what it sounds like, according to the father of one of the Southeast’s top quarterbacks.
Of course, UGA already has a commitment in this year’s recruiting class with Jacob Eason, the 5-star quarterback from Lake Stevens, Wash.
For 2017, UGA already has a pledge from junior quarterback Bailey Hockman, the left-hander from McEachern High School. But the Bulldogs apparently plan to build some much-needed depth at the position.
“I can show you the text right here from (a UGA coach) that says they are taking two quarterbacks,” the father told the AJC’s DawgNation.
“That’s still on the table for us as an option. It’s not on the record for us because it’s kind of an under the table offer right now that no one will ever know about because it’s like you have an offer as long as you say yes. If you’re not going to say yes, Georgia is not going to have any idea what you’re talking about.”
So does it make sense that UGA would sign two quarterbacks in 2017? Yes.
UGA quarterbacks Greyson Lambert and Faton Bauta are both redshirt juniors. When 2017 comes around, both players would have graduated by then. That leaves only Brice Ramsey (who would be a senior in 2017), Eason and Hockman.
That’s only three quarterbacks, which isn’t ideal for depth. So who would UGA target in 2017? It remains to be seen when and if an offer goes out.
UGA’s main quarterback target for the following year (2018), is Trevor Lawrence, a 5-star from Cartersville High School.
