The NFL’s Carolina Panthers plan to interview Baylor’s Matt Rhule, the coach of UGA’s opponent in the Sugar Bowl.

The news was first reported on Sunday morning by multiple media outlets, including ESPN’s David Newton.

Rhule, 44, is in his second year as coach of Baylor, and he has done an outstanding job turning around a program that posted a 1-11 record in 2016.

Rhule has coached in the NFL before, serving as an offensive line coach for the New York Giants during the 2012 season.

The Panthers’ job opened up after the team recently fired longtime coach Ron Rivera.
