Class of 2017 four-star cornerback Deangelo Gibbs is in Athens for a visit, 247Sports’ Kipp Adams reported.
Gibbs, from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., is the state’s top uncommitted recruit and someone who is being hotly pursued by Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs staff. He is ranked No. 37 nationally and the No. 2 player in the state.
DawgNation.com’s Jeff Sentell had the chance to speak with Gibbs earlier this month at The Opening, Nike’s premier summer camp that featured more than 160 of the top football prospects in the nation, and he summarized the conversation this way:
Georgia is still recruiting him harder than anyone. He still loves Georgia a lot. The current Bulldog commits are on him hard. The recent transfer of his cousin J.R. Reed to Georgia will help the program’s chances. Yet he’s still wide open. He still has a lot of schools to see and needs to make a quicker decision than his peers because he plans to enroll early.
Georgia already has three defensive backs in its 2017 recruiting class in Richard LeCounte III, William Poole III and Latavious Brini.
