Former Georgia defensive tackle John Jenkins has reportedly been waived by the New Orleans Saints.
The Advocate’s Nick Underhill reported Tuesday that New Orleans had cut the former Bulldog. Jenkins has appeared on just 33 percent of the Saints’ defensive snaps in 2016. He was not on the active roster when New Orleans played San Francisco on Sunday.
Jenkins’ release came after the Saints activated 2016 first-round pick Sheldon Rankins from injured reserve.
The fourth-year defensive lineman will be available to claim off waivers. If a team does not claim him, he will become a free agent. He has 10 total tackles in 2016.
New Orleans selected Jenkins in the third round, No. 82 overall, in the 2013 NFL Draft.
