There are new details regarding the reported robbery in Athens of former Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith, whose helmet and jersey were reportedly stolen. It appears that much more was taken from Smith, a first-round pick of the Chicago Bears in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Athens Police took a report on the incident at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, DawgNation has learned. The items were taken not from Smith’s home but from his car. Items that were taken, in addition to his helmet, Rose Bowl and national championship jerseys include:

  • iPad belonging to the Chicago Bears
  • 4 pairs of headphones
  • Bluetooth
  • Watches
  • Sunglasses
  • Nike athletic shoes
  • UGA 2017 football helmet
  • UGA 2017 football jersey
  • UGA 2017 Rose Bowl jersey
  • UGA 2017 national championship jersey

It is believed that the robbery occurred at some point from 5 p.m. Friday to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. At this time, the full report was not complete but it is unknown how the perpetrators broke into the car.

Earlier Saturday, Smith’s aunt posted to Twitter that someone had broken into Smith’s home and stolen his helmet and jersey. The iPad belonging to the Bears, along with the other items, were not described in the note Smith’s aunt posted to Twitter.

Below is the note that Smith’s aunt posted.

Smith is one of the most accomplished Georgia players in recent history, winning the 2017 Butkus Award. Last week, Smith was taken with the No. 8 pick in the draft by the Chicago Bears. He was the first Georgia and SEC player taken in the draft.
