Should UGA fans cheer for Alabama tonight? Is it “S-E-C, S-E-C, S-E-C?”

Personally, I think it’s very complicated.

If you’re an UGA fan, you can go in two different directions, and either one is understandable:

Yes, I am cheering for Alabama. There’s really one reason for UGA fans to pull for Alabama: Because, in theory, if Alabama wins – especially with a blowout win over Clemson – then that will make the Bulldogs look better. Georgia fans can say: “We’re the only real challenge that Alabama faced this year” and “the SEC championship game was the national championship game.” UGA is No. 3 in a couple of way-too-early Top 25 rankings for next season. They could move to No. 2 with an Alabama blowout.

No, I’m hoping Alabama gets crushed. This is the person who is tired of seeing Nick Saban’s awkward smirks when he hoists the trophy. They’re sick and tired of hearing about “The Process” or Tua Tagovailoa/Jalen Hurts, or watching how the Crimson Tide somehow always gets the breaks, either in the games or simply by making the playoffs (Last year, Alabama snuck in the playoff despite not even winning the SEC West).

To me, it seems like a majority of UGA fans want Alabama to lose tonight. They view the Crimson Tide as a bitter rival now, and they don’t want them to win in anything.

But maybe I’m wrong.
