Social media reacts to UGA’s blowout loss in SEC Championship
Unfortunately, Saturday was not a good day for Georgia football. All season, fans were waiting and hopeful that the Bulldogs offense would eventually wake up and play at an elite level like the defense.
That didn’t come close to happening in the SEC Championship, as LSU dominated, 37-10. The Tigers outgained the Bulldogs, 481-286.
The offense had its chances early in the game to set the tone. On the first drive, the Bulldogs came very close to completing three long passes, but whether it was a dropped pass or missed throw, all three opportunities fell incomplete.
Then on LSU’s first drive, the Tigers scored a touchdown. That forced Georgia to play catch up the rest of the evening, and the Bulldogs never did threaten to take the lead or tie the game.
Jake Fromm completed under 50 percent of his passes again and threw two interceptions. Fromm has thrown five picks this season and all of them came in Georgia’s two losses.
The Bulldogs rushing attacked averaged just 2.4 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Georgia gave up more than 20 points for the first time this season, and LSU reached that total early in the third quarter. Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow was spectacular, throwing for 349 yards and four touchdowns.
While last year’s SEC Championship Game defeat to Alabama was heart-breaking because the Bulldogs blew a double-digit lead, this one hurts a lot for different reasons. In many ways, Georgia was ahead of schedule Kirby Smart’s first few years in 2017 and 2018. The national championship game appearance was a major surprise two years ago.
Winning the program’s first title since 1980 is now expected to happen, though, and this year, the Bulldogs were supposed to take another step forward on their quest to break their championship drought. With this loss, it feels like no step was taken, and, in some ways, the program feels further away from a championship.
Moreover, Alabama was out of the way this year, and still, Georgia couldn’t get over the hump.
Obviously, social media had plenty to say about the Bulldogs following their loss to the Tigers on Saturday. Check out some of the top tweets below:

On the bright side for Georgia sports fans, it's a championship game in which they never had a lead to blow in the first place.

They were right. Georgia did have no business being in the top-four.

Georgia….thank you for playing Jake Fromm instead of Justin Fields. It has defiantly paid off for your team. #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/8IsyzLbxRV

Everyone talks about how unpredictable college football is, but you can set your clock every year on Georgia not winning the National Championship.
