Steve Spurrier has ribbed and roasted Georgia a number of times over the years. And even though he hasn’t coached since 2015, Spurrier is still managing to take shots at the Bulldogs.

In speaking with Matt Connolly of The State on Tuesday, Spurrier was asked about teams talking trash and potentially hyping up your opponent. And, of course, he took another shot at Georgia, which he loved to beat.

“If talking mattered, Georgia would’ve beaten us a lot more,” Spurrier told Connolly.

Spurrier had a lot of success in his career against Georgia, as he went 16-7 as a coach in his time at Florida and South Carolina. In his time as Florida’s coach, Spurrier finished 11-1 in his time at Florida against Georgia.

However, Georgia fans quickly can bring up that the last time the Bulldogs met a Spurrier-coached team, Georgia rolled to a 52-20 win. In the game, Greyson Lambert torched the South Carolina defense as he completed 24 of his 25 passes for 330 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Last season, Georgia beat both Florida and South Carolina on its way to an SEC title last season. Georgia opens its 2018 season against Austin Peay on Sept. 1 and then visits South Carolina on Sept. 8.
