3 things to know before betting UGA as a 24.5-point favorite at Tennessee

Georgia football is one of the favorites to win the national championship this season, and many Bulldogs fans who are watching those odds are also watching the week-to-week point spreads as well. With that in mind, DawgNation is proud to share a brand new show — in partnership with R.S. Andrews — called Go With the Flow. It offers a chance to hear from some of your favorite DawgNation personalities as they share their thoughts on UGA, and the other big games each week around college football, and play along with R.S. Andrews’ Dari Payrow as he decides which picks he likes best.

3 things to know before betting UGA as a 24.5-point favorite at Tennessee

Georgia is 2-5 against the spread in its last seven games vs. Tennessee.

UGA has dominated its rivalry with Tennessee lately — winning two straight vs. the Vols and seven of the last nine. However, the Bulldogs haven’t fared as well against the spread — including failing to cover as a 30.5-point favorite in a 38-12 win in Athens last season.

Georgia has covered the spread in five-straight games against SEC opponents.

UGA didn’t cover the spread as a two-touchdown favorite in its most-recent game vs. Notre Dame, but it’s been hot vs. the number recently in conference play — including a 30-6 win at Vanderbilt as a 21-point favorite to begin the season.

The total has gone under in three of UGA’s four games this season.

Covering a big spread often requires a high-scoring game. However, the Bulldogs haven’t played as many of those this season as the experts assumed. The total for UGA-Tennessee is 51 points as of the time of this writing. Of course, one of the factors explaining UGA’s propensity for going “under” is its stingy defense. The Bulldogs are sixth in America in points allowed — yielding just 10 per game (Spread information and trend data courtesy of OddsShark).

Best of luck with your picks this week. For more information on UGA, and the top games of the weekend, check out DawgNation’s sports betting show, Go With the Flow, linked below.
