ATHENS — Kirby Smart has already established one thing in his new job: A Twitter account.
Georgia’s new coach has taken the handle @KirbySmartUGA, which you can see here. A team spokesman verified that it is indeed Smart’s official account. Smart, or whoever is running the account, started things off Tuesday night with a tweet:

It isn’t clear whether Smart had a Twitter account at Alabama, but if he did he wasn’t very active. Alabama coaches didn’t tend to be, a beat writer that covers the team reports.
Smart’s new Georgia account was already up to past 13,000 followers as of Wednesday morning, and would likely grow exponentially. Previous Georgia coach Mark Richt, who did use the Twitter account freely, has 218,000-plus followers. (Richt has tweeted once since taking over at Miami.)
As of 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Smart was following 78 people. That included recruits – yes, Jacob Eason was among them – and some reporters who cover Georgia, and several recruiting analysts.
It also included Glenn Schumann, the one staffer that Smart is known to be bringing with him from Alabama to Georgia, as well as current Georgia running backs coach Thomas Brown. That could be a hint about something.
