Here’s what Alabama coaches and players thought about Saturday’s 38-10 victory over Georgia:

Coach Nick Saban on the pregame jawing between the Georgia and Alabama players: “I think we were just as ready to play Ole Miss, but we didn’t channel our energy in the right place. When we started jumping around out there in pregame, I got really pissed. I said, ‘Are we going to go through this again?’ Are we going to be emotional and not be able to execute and do what we’re supposed to do? That’s not who we are. Focus on playing football and doing our job. And they settled down and did a good job with that.”

Saban on defeating Georgia: “I thought (our players) played their best game of the year, and against a good team.”

Saban on expectations: “It’s one game. Next week you’ll be asking me what we’re going to do different to get ready for the game because it’s a big game. Then the next game after that will be the same thing. We have a process that we like to use, try to get the players ready and to improve.”

Saban on running back Derrick Henry: “Downhill runs are what you need to do on a field like that and conditions like that. And he’s the perfect guy for it.”

Quarterback Jake Coker on the win: “It was awesome. Ever since I was little, I’ve dreamed of beating Georgia and all of those good schools. So this was pretty sweet.”

Defensive end Jarran Reed on the impact of the victory: “It helps us with our confidence to get better each and every week, just seeing what we can do. We came out here, and (Nick) Chubb is a great back, but you have to come to win every week and dominate the line of scrimmage.”

Linebacker Reggie Ragland on controlling Georgia’s quarterbacks: “That was our game plan going in, just to try and rattle them and get them off of their game plan. They are two good quarterbacks, and it was up to us to get them off of their game so their passing game wouldn’t be an issue.”
