ATHENS — Kevin Sherrer, who has been Georgia’s outside linebackers coach the past two seasons, was spotted Friday night still wearing the G while on a recruiting trip.

Sherrer was at the Georgia Dome alongside Glenn Schumann, who new head coach Kirby Smart has hired in a yet-to-be-defined role, but probably as a full-time assistant. That’s the only official new hire made by Smart, who has also yet to announce whether he’s retaining any of Mark Richt’s staff, and which ones.

Running backs coach Thomas Brown has been actively recruiting this week, and all signs are that he’s being retained. The only other current assistant who has been spotted on the road in the past few days is Sherrer, though others could be and it just hasn’t been sniffed out yet.

Sherrer and Smart know each other from Alabama, where Sherrer was director of player development from 2010-12.
