By the numbers: Georgia’s rising defense and its sputtering offense

Brian Schottenheimer, right, can smile because Leonard Floyd and the defense are carrying Georgia.

The updated stats are, not surprisingly, very good for Georgia’s defense but lagging (to put it mildly) for the offense. They’re midway through this week’s edition of By the Numbers, sandwiched in between some more stats that told the tale of the Auburn game, and a look at where Georgia Southern, the next opponent, stands in the national ranks. (Spoiler alert: The triple-option running Golden Eagles are great running the ball, not so much passing.)
