A collection of interesting stats, trends and other numerical observations after Georgia’s 51-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe – and the entire opening weekend around the SEC.

(Junior college transfer Chuks Amaechi also played.)


Snaps for Reggie Carter (held out because of sore shoulder), A.J. Turman (unknown reason), Shattle Fenteng, Shakenneth Williams and any second-team offensive lineman other than Hunter Long. (The game ending early would certainly seem to be the reason for that.)


Touches for Isaiah McKenzie, who played some on offense, but the coaches played it cautious with him because of his hamstring problem this preseason. After the game Mark Richt indicated that would change going forward.

Touchbacks, out of six attempts, for Collin Barber on kickoffs, along with a 61.8 total average. Marshall Morgan had two attempts, neither of which were touchbacks, but had a 62.0 average. Richt said Morgan tweaked his groin in practice this week so they gave Barber a shot at kickoffs in practice and then the game.


The average yards per carry for Nick Chubb (7.5), Keith Marshall (7.3) and Sony Michel (6.8) in a combined 32 rush attempts.


The average score of this week’s SEC games. So a lot of offense, but an average margin of victory of 25 points.Yes, the opponents were mostly directional schools, but Texas A&M also thumped a ranked Arizona State, 38-17, Alabama beat a ranked Wisconsin, 35-17, and Auburn beat Louisville, 31-24.


The number of SEC teams to lose this week: Vanderbilt, which is Georgia’s next opponent. And the next-closest game was Georgia’s following-week opponent, South Carolina, which had a four-point win over North Carolina.
