JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Georgia will play an SEC schedule front-loaded with tough road games.

That was the news for the Bulldogs on Thursday as SEC released all the dates of all the conference’s teams during a telecast on the SEC Network. We’ve known a while now who Georgia was going to play next year. Now we know when.

With heralded freshman quarterback Jacob Eason in the fold, the Bulldogs will open SEC play on the road in the season’s third week at Missouri (Sept 17). One week later, UGA will head west again to take on Ole Miss in Oxford. After an Oct. 1 home date with Tennessee, the Bulldogs will be back on the road to face South Carolina in Columbia on Oct. 8.

That puts Georgia on the road in three times in its first four SEC games. And with the season opener against North Carolina being played Sept. 3 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, the Bulldogs’ first meaningful home game won’t come until the season’s fifth week.

Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity declined comment other than to say “we’ll talk about that Monday.”

Also, the SEC protected the Bulldogs’ traditional date with Florida in Jacksonville, which will be Oct. 29 next year. Once again, Georgia will have a bye week beforehand. The Gators will also have the week off, as they did this year.

Before the announcement, Georgia already knew when it was playing its three other non-conference opponents: Nicholls State (Sept. 10), Louisiana (Nov. 19) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 26).
