ESPN to air documentary on Nick Chubb, Chubbtown
ATHENS — One of the most enjoyable stories I’ve had the pleasure to write the last few years was my feature last summer on Nick Chubb and his legacy in regard to Chubbtown, the small community his family settled around the time of the Civil War.

Well, ESPN has produced a documentary telling that story, and it will air Sunday as part of its observance for Black History Month. Reported by Byron Pitts of ABC News, the piece will debut Sunday morning during the 10 a.m. edition of SportsCenter, then be shown throughout the day.
“One of the main things I love about this story is that it’s as much about family and faith as it is about football,” Pitts said in a news release circulated Friday. “In this age of bravado and cockiness, this is a humble kid who happens to be an honor student and a world-class football player, but who prides himself on being just a country boy from North Georgia. I consider myself a pretty serious-minded journalist. I like stories that encourage people, and this I think will certainly encourage people.”
If you’re a DawgNation regular, hopefully you’ve already read about Chubb’s fascinating ancestry. If not, or you’d like to read it again, click here.
And below you’ll see a video preview from ESPN:
In the meantime, as everyone knows, Chubb continues to rehabilitate from a devastating knee injury suffered against Tennessee midway through last season. Georgia coach Kirby Smart recently shared a somewhat pessimistic view about Chubb being ready to go at the beginning of this coming season.
But seemingly in response to that, a video of Chubb running full speed on a treadmill was circulated on Twitter on Thursday.

So it has been a big week for Chubb news in the Classic City. And Sunday, his story will be going nationwide.
