Georgia offense amassed 696 yards as the No. 4-ranked and undefeated Bulldogs smote Missouri 53-28 in front of an announced sellout crowd of 92,746 at Sanford Stadium Saturday.

The 696 yards is the second-highest single game yardage total by a Georgia team in school history (record is 712 vs. Fla. Atlantic in 2012). UGA’s 7-0 record marks the team’s best start since 2005.

Freshman quarterback Jake Fromm finished with a career-high 326 yards passing. He threw for two touchdowns and run for another score. Fromm connected on 18-of-26 passes and led a balanced Georgia attack that included the four-running-back tandem of D’Andre Swift (94 yards), Sony Michel (86 yards), Nick Chubb (70 yards) and Elijah Holyfield (48 yards).

DawgNation fans had plenty to say about this game on our Facebook page. Many comments centered on UGA’s defense, which gave up a season high in points. Here is a sampling of the fan commentary, some of which have been edited for clarity, content and space.

Drew Stephens: “UGA will have to find a pass rush. I’ve been saying this for weeks. We finally faced a QB with a great deep ball. We cannot win the SEC without a consistent pass rush.”

Nathan Taylor: “And just like that, nobody was trashing offensive coordinator Jim Chaney anymore.”

Nathan Jamerson: “It should have been 53-0. Where was our defense?”

Jay Whitlock: “Love what Kirby Smart is building and the team’s attitude. He has brought and is instilling one hell of a winning, work-hard attitude.”

Keith Cooper: “Defense had a hiccup in the first half and regrouped. Great job making the changes in the second half. The defense finally had a bad half, that is life, but Georgia still got the win.”

Nathan Taylor: “Hopefully some players will come back from injury before Florida. Pass defense was exposed a little bit. Better now than later. With the upsets that happened this weekend, I’ll take it.”

John Deltoro: “Defense will improve. But at the end of the day it’s a win. Georgia is going into the bye week to get healthy.”

Jon Spikes: “Good news is that Florida and Auburn lost. Neither team looked all that good. UGA has to pick up the secondary and reduce the penalties and we’ll the Bulldogs will be OK.”

Ken Johnson: “I am disappointed Jacob Eason didn’t get to play in the fourth quarter. Or, is he hurt more than we are being told. I know he will leave if not given a chance to play. Just saying.”

Carlton Isaiah Spivey: “I can’t believe Georgia didn’t score 60 points. We had all the opportunities to do so, just couldn’t capitalize. Defense got exposed for the first time, so hopefully that improves. The defense can’t be getting exposed like that, giving up 14 points on the same play calls. A lot of improvement to go. Georgia got the bye week at the right time, especially with all the injuries it has”

Daniel Knight: “LOL at those saying the defense needs to improve. Defense had dominated all season. Fans were even comparing itC to ‘Bama. Then it has one bad half, and all of a sudden the defense needs improvement?”  😂
